The Most Vegetarian And Vegan-Friendly Cities Across The Globe

London has emerged as the most vegetarian-friendly city in the world.

Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Glasgow round out the top five. Stateside, Los Angeles (8), and San Francisco (10) cracked the top ten. New York makes an appearance at number 12 on the list.

The research took into consideration factors such as the affordability of maintaining a balanced vegetarian diet in each city which included the cost of fruits, vegetables, and plant-based protein.

“For many vegetarians, it can be a challenge to maintain a balanced diet, something that has grown in importance during the pandemic,” said Omer Kucukdere, Founder and CEO at Nestpick.

“Access to essential food groups, including affordable basics such as fruits and vegetables as well as plant-based proteins, is therefore vitally important."

“WE CONDUCTED THIS STUDY TO SHINE A LIGHT ON CITIES WHERE VEGETARIANS ARE ABLE TO SUSTAIN A MEAT-FREE LIFE & ACCESS THE RESOURCES THEY NEED, WITHOUT HAVING TO GO WELL BEYOND THEIR BUDGETS.”

The study also looked at the availability and quality of vegetarian-friendly restaurants relative to the population.

Chiang Mai was found to have the most affordable vegetarian restaurants just ahead of Ubud and Bangkok.

Edinburgh and Ubud ranked in the top three for both Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants and Vegan-Friendly Restaurants.

Nestpick.com’s CEO hopes that this study can help those searching for locations amenable to their lifestyle.
